Dear members of IN.TUM,
I know, it's Corona time, but to preserve at least a bit of normality,
in.tum.quarterly will try to do business as usual.
Across TUM, currently, the big topic is the transition process from our well-known
and well-understood departments to that "terra incognita" of the new schools. In our
department, a lot of helping hands have joined the adventure to explore that terra
incognita, together with colleagues from MA and EI, and to turn it into something
we (or our successors) will say about "yes, it was worthwhile!" Among the many
questions I hear these days, typically of the kind "will this disappear?", or "will we
still have a chance to ...?", I'm missing a very crucial one: What will happen to
in.tum.quarterly? To be honest, we forgot to design a working group to deal with
that. But it's never too late - the team working on communication will get the task
to ensure the bright future of in.tum.quarterly. How should our new TUM School of Computation, Information and Technology (CIT)
do without? But, for the time being, enjoy life in our "old world" ...
Cheers,
Hans-Joachim Bungartz
Dean of the Department of Informatics
